Methodology
We compare rates from 6 Hawaii banks and credit unions. We are not a lender or broker, and no lender pays to be listed or ranked.
Where rates come from
Every rate is copied exactly from the lender's own website. We never calculate a rate ourselves. Each row shows the date printed on the lender's page and links to that page. If our number and the lender's page ever differ, the lender's page is correct.
How often we check
We re-check rates against the lenders' pages regularly. Rates not re-checked for more than 7 days are flagged. See the status page for each lender's last check.
How we rank
- Mortgages: lowest APR first.
- Savings and CDs: highest APY first.
- HELOCs: ranked by lowest variable APR after the intro period ends; ties go to the lower intro rate.
Nothing else affects the order.
APR and APY
APR is a loan's yearly cost including points and certain fees. APY is what savings earn in a year, including compounding. Some savings promotions advertise a short-term interest rate; we show the APY the bank publishes and list the promotional rate separately.
Conditions
Published rates usually assume an ideal borrower (for example, 20% down and top credit). When a lender attaches conditions — a credit tier, auto-pay, new money, a deadline, or an island restriction — we show them on the row. Your actual rate may differ, so confirm with the lender before applying.
